User first is a design challenge
We at nista have always put a focus on our users needs and design-driven product development. Especially in the Industrial Software world, this usually doesn’t play the vital role that it should. People are the ones using our products, no matter if B2B or B2C. To make energy efficiency a daily custom and habit, things like usability, excitement, hence design are essential.
So it made sense, to fill the position with the designer as one of the first ones during the development of our MVP. This decision has ever since drastically shaped the way we develop our product and company.
The brand design gave us a distinctive positioning that has since set us apart from our competition and reflects our focus on quality, excitement and ‘epicness’ in everything we do. On the one hand, this is important for communicating with possible customers. But it is also very valuable for the team's internal belonging and our attractiveness as an employer.
We are very super happy to have received the Red Dot Award 2022 as an external confirmation of our work.

About the design team
Nicole Zimmermann and Ulrich Fuchs are a design team from Vienna, Austria. Over the years, they have worked on many branding and design projects for different kind of clients ranging from small to big businesses. In 2021, when nista started its journey to build their MVP, they brought Nicole on board for the UX/UI design. Nicole and Ulrich are responsible for shaping the start-ups Corporate Design during this time.

With roughly 20,000 entries every year, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. The sought-after distinction “Red Dot” has been the revered international seal of outstanding design quality.
In 2022, agencies, designers and companies from all over the globe entered communication design projects and brands in the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design. Following the motto “In search of good design and creativity”, the 24 international members of the Red Dot Jury assessed each project and each brand entered professionally and individually.
